Josh Ballenger
Josh has served over a decade in the United States military, earning experience in both the Marine Corps and the Army. That dual-service background has given him a deep understanding of performance demands inside the military community — and the discipline required to meet them.
Before his military career, Josh competed as a track athlete at a national level, qualifying for the U.S. Junior Olympics. His personal bests include:
3200m – 9:45
1600m – 4:54
800m – 1:52
400m – 52.4
After transitioning into military service, Josh was introduced to strength training as a way to enhance operational performance. That introduction evolved into competition — earning two state championship powerlifting titles under USAPL.
Today, he continues to compete across disciplines including CrossFit and endurance racing, with recent accomplishments including:
50-mile gravel race — Top 25% overall finish
100-mile endurance cycling event finisher
Market to Market Relay (2025) — Top 16% overall, Top 4 in category
Josh holds a B.S. in Exercise Science and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), along with additional credentials including CF-L1, TASC-F, and Army Master Fitness Trainer.
His coaching philosophy is built on lived experience — strength, endurance, durability, and performance under pressure. Every program inside Midwest Made reflects that standard.
Midwest Made believes performance isn’t built in one discipline — it’s built through consistency, resilience, and the willingness to train with purpose.
